On June 4, 2025, Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy made a deeply offensive and inflammatory remark on The Unnamed Show podcast, hosted by Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney. While discussing Greta Thunberg’s involvement in a humanitarian mission with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, sailing on the boat Madleen to deliver aid to Gaza, Portnoy callously stated, “I hope they hit a f*cking, like, a missile on her boat. Knock that boat down. Greta or whatever her name is.” This reprehensible comment, made during a conversation that derided Thunberg’s activism and her efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reflects a shocking disregard for human life and the principles of compassion and decency. Portnoy’s words are utterly condemnable, as they target a young activist dedicated to helping those in need and undermine the importance of humanitarian efforts.
